더 배터리 쇼 노스 아메리카 2024 참가
동화일렉트로라이트(이하 동화일렉)가 지난 10월 7일부터 10일까지 미국 디트로이트에서 열린 ‘더 배터리 쇼 노스 아메리카 2024(The Battery Show North America 2024, 이하 더 배터리 쇼)’에 참가했다. 해당 전시는 배터리 및 EV 기술 현황과 트렌드 등을 공유하는 북미 최대 규모의 배터리 산업 전시회. 14주년을 맞은 이번 행사에는 배터리와 완성차 산업을 비롯해 항공, 거치용 저장장치, 의료 등 유관 기업 약 1,150개 사가 참여했으며 1만 9,000명이 넘는 관람객이 방문했다. 동화일렉은 글로벌 이차전지 소재 기업으로 더 배터리 쇼에 참여해 동화의 기술력과 글로벌 사업 역량을 선보였다. 동화일렉 전 부서가 오랜 시간 준비에 힘쓴 만큼 많은 관람객들과 관계자들이 부스를 방문했으며 경영진까지 발로 뛰며 현장을 지원했다. 특히 이번 전시는 제너럴모터스(GM)와 포드(Ford)를 비롯한 국내외 배터리 전후방 기업과의 네트워크를 강화하는 기회가 됐다. 미국 테네시 전해액 공장에 큰 관심을 보인 관계자들에게 동화일렉은 미국 공장 운영 계획 및 중장기 북미 투자 로드맵, PA800(자체 개발 첨가제) 등 R&D 역량을 공유했다.
Participated in The Battery Show North America
Dongwha Electrolyte participated in The Battery Show North America 2024 on October 7-10 in Detroit, USA. It is the largest event in North America to be dedicated to the latest battery and EV technologies and trends. Dongwha Electrolyte participated as a global manufacturer of materials for secondary batteries to showcase its technological prowess and global business capacity. The company’s employees prepared for the event thoroughly for a long time. Its executives personally attended the event to make sure it went successfully. As a result, its pavilion drew a lot of visitors. This year’s event was an opportunity to strengthen a network with Korean and overseas giants such as GM and Ford. Visitors showed particularly much interest in Dongwha Electrolyte’s electrolyte factory in Tennessee. The company briefed them on the factory’s operation plans, mid- and long-term investment roadmap and R&D achievements such as the PA800 (Dongwha Electrolyte’s additive material).
이수스페셜티케미컬과 고체 전해질 개발 MOU 체결
한편 동화일렉은 더 배터리 쇼 일정 중 정밀화학 전문 기업 이수스페셜티케미컬과 현지에서 업무 협약을 맺으며 고체 전해질 개발 및 사업화에 힘을 실었다. 미국 디트로이트에서 10월 9일(현지 시각) 진행된 협약식에는 승지수 동화일렉트로라이트 대표와 류승호 이수스페셜티케미컬 대표를 비롯한 양사 임직원이 참석해 고체 전해질 개발을 위한 상호 협력 양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다. 이번 협약에 따라 동화일렉은 이수스페셜티케미컬이 보유한 황화리튬 소재를 연구 개발에 활용할 수 있게 됐다. 양사 협력을 통해 개발된 고체 전해질은 품질 평가와 공정 최적화를 마친 후 본격 생산에 들어갈 예정이다. 이번 업무 협약으로 동화일렉은 기술 혁신에 힘쓰며 차세대 배터리의 핵심 소재 분야를 주도해나갈 계획이다.
MOU with ISU Specialty Chemical for development of solid electrolytes
At the event, Dongwha Electrolyte signed a business agreement with ISU Specialty Chemical, a manufacturer of chemical products, for the development and commercialization of solid electrolytes. The deal was signed in Detroit on October 9 local time by Dongwha Electrolyte CEO Jisoo Seung and ISU Specialty Chemical CEO Seungho Ryu. The ceremony of MOU signing was also attended by executives and employees from both companies. Under the agreement, Dongwha Electrolyte can use ISU Specialty Chemical’s lithium sulfide in research and development. Solid electrolytes that will be developed through this partnership will undergo quality inspections and process optimization before full-fledged production begins. The deal will give Dongwha a push in technological innovation and development of next-generation core battery materials.
