해외 사업장의 5S 실천 현황 점검
경영진이 사업 현장을 방문해 5S 활동(정리, 정돈, 청소, 청결, 생활화) 현황을 직접 점검하는 동화그룹 5S TOP 진단이 2024년 국내 사업장은 물론 해외 사업장에서도 이루어졌다. 해외 사업장에서 실시하는 첫 5S TOP 진단을 위해 경영진은 지난 8월 베트남, 말레이시아의 4개 도시를 방문해 4일에 걸쳐 하노이 동화베트남, 호치민 VRG동화, 닐라이 동화말레이시아, 조호루바루 동화일렉트로라이트 조호루바루 전해액 공장을 순차적으로 점검했다. 현지 사업장의 5S 현황 및 안전 관리를 세심하게 진단한 경영진은 “과거 대비 혁신에 가까운 변화를 보여주었으며 이를 꾸준히 유지할 수 있도록 관리에 힘써주길 바란다”고 총평했다. 현지 직원들은 첫 5S TOP 진단 활동에 적극 관심을 갖고 준비했으며 이를 통해 5S에 대한 이해도를 강화할 수 있었다.
혁신적인 아이디어로 개선 활동 실시
국내 사업장 5S TOP 진단은 10월 15일과 18일 이틀에 걸쳐 진행됐다. 첫날은 아산, 인천 가좌동, 북성동에 소재한 보드사업군을, 둘째 날은 논산, 인천에 위치한 화학사업군 및 엠파크를 방문해 점검이 이루어졌다. 특히 사업장마다 동화 5S의 표준화를 위한 ‘혁신명소(5S Innovation Hotspot)’를 선정해 집중적인 개선 활동을 진행했다. 혁신명소 개선 활동을 점검한 경영진은 아산 MDF공장의 Refiner, 가좌동 수지공장의 반응기 투명창, 북성동 보드화학공장의 반응기 상부 결합 부위 커버 등의 우수 사례를 꼽으며 국내외 전 사업장에 확장되길 바라는 의견을 전했다. 2024년 최우수 혁신명소 사업장으로는 국내 아산 MDF공장, 해외 VRG동화 MDF2공장이 선정됐으며, 혁신명소 개선이 잘된 8개 사업장에도 포상이 이루어졌다. 안전에 대한 경각심을 높이고 개선 활동을 독려하는 5S TOP 진단은 동화의 안전 문화 확립을 위해 앞으로도 매년 실시할 예정이다.
5S at overseas subsidiaries
Dongwha Group’s 5S TOP evaluation (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) performed by executives who personally visit business sites was carried out in 2024 not only at domestic business sites but abroad as well. Business sites in four cities in Vietnam and Malaysia were visited in August for the first-ever 5S TOP evaluation, which lasted four days at Dongwha Vietnam in Hanoi, VRG Dongwha in Ho Chi Minh, Dongwha Malaysia in Nilai, and Dongwha Electrolyte in Johor Bahru. They were evaluated thoroughly in terms of 5S and safety management. The evaluators lauded them for dramatic changes close to innovation and urged them to maintain their 5S conditions in the future. Local employees prepared for their first 5S TOP evaluation proactively, learning about 5S activities in the process.
Improvement activities based on innovative ideas
Domestic business sites underwent 5S TOP evaluations on October 15 and 18. On day one, Board BU facilities in Asan and Incheon were assessed. On day two, Chemical BU facilities in Nonsan and Incheon as well as M Park were evaluated. At each business site 5S Innovation Hot Spots were selected as locations for intensive improvement activities. After inspecting them, the evaluators picked the best examples, which included a refiner at the Asan MDF factory, a translucent window in a reactor at the Gajwa-dong resin factory, and a cover in the conjoined upper part of a reactor at the Bukseong-dong board chemical factory. The evaluators hope these examples will be benchmarked by other business sites in Korea and abroad. The best Innovation Hot Spots of 2024 are the Asan MDF factory in Korea and VRG Dongwha’s 2nd MDF factory based overseas. Eight other business sites with notable improvements received prizes. 5S TOP evaluations will continue every year to raise safety vigilance and encourage improvement.
