보드 기술 초격차 방안 수립의 장
2024년 7월 8일부터 이틀 동안 ‘동화 보드 테크니컬 콘퍼런스’가 동화컬처빌리지에서 열렸다. 2006년부터 시작된 해당 콘퍼런스는 동화 글로벌 보드 사업장의 기술력 향상과 효율적인 운영 방안을 모색하기 위한 중요한 회의체로 발전해왔다. 한국, 말레이시아, 베트남 등 국내외 사업장별 운영 방식과 성과를 공유하고, 상호 협력을 통해 기술적 도약을 꾀하는 중요한 자리인 것. 코로나 팬데믹 이후 5년 만에 기술기획팀 주관으로 재개된 이번 행사는 국내외 보드사업장 주요 부서의 기술총괄, 기술혁신실장, 각 사업장 대표 등 주요 임원들과 본부장, 부문장, 팀장급 리더 총 28명이 참여했다. 참가자들은 행사 주제인 ‘보드 초격차 제조경쟁력 확보 방안’에 대해 심도 있는 토론을 진행했다. 또 생산성 향상, 원가 절감, 품질 관리, 공정 관리 등 다양한 분야에서 개선 과제를 도출하고 보드사업부의 단기·중장기 전략을 수립했다. 보드사업부 리더들이 머리를 맞대고 새로운 성장 전략을 모색한 시간, 앞선 품질과 기술력으로 글로벌 시장을 사로잡을 동화의 저력을 기대해본다.
Searching for ways to upgrade board manufacturing technologies
The Dongwha Board Technical Conference took place on July 8-10, 2024 in Dongwha Culture Village. Launched in 2006, the conference has evolved into an important event for upgrading technologies and boosting efficiency at Dongwha’s global board business sites. This year’s conference was focused on sharing management methods and achievements at business sites in Korea, Malaysia and Vietnam, and finding ways to improve technologies through mutual cooperation. Suspended for five years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s conference was attended by 28 executives and managers from the major teams at domestic and overseas board business sites. They held in-depth discussions about ways to secure unrivaled competitiveness in board manufacturing. They also devised tasks to enhance productivity, cut costs, improve quality and process control, and set short- and long-term strategies for the Board BU. Their efforts to unearth new growth strategies will hopefully help Dongwha realize its potential in the global market through better quality and more advanced technologies.

한국, 말레이시아, 베트남의 보드 시장은 태국과 중국의 저가 제품으로 인해 치열한 생존 경쟁에 직면해 있습니다. 이러한 상황에서 품질 우위의 제조 경쟁력은 필수입니다. 경쟁사와의 격차를 벌리기 위해 품질과 원가 경쟁력을 강화하는 개선 과제를 발굴하고 실행하는 활동을 생활화해야 할 것입니다. 이를 통해 동화만의 탁월한 제조 경쟁력을 갖출 수 있다고 봅니다.
Q. What strategies are needed to secure unrivaled competitiveness in manufacturing?
Board markets in Korea, Malaysia and Vietnam are faced with cutthroat competition from cheap Thai and Chinese products. That’s why competitiveness in terms of quality is vital. To widen the gap with our rivals, we need to find ways to bolster competitiveness in terms of quality and manufacturing costs, and implement them on a daily basis. This way we can secure our own competitive edge.
Q. 해외 사업장에 필요한 글로벌 부서의 지원 사항이 있다면 무엇인가요?
2025년에 경쟁사의 공장이 완공될 예정이어서 이에 대비해 원가 및 품질 경쟁력을 강화해야 하는 만큼 연구 지원과 기술 교육이 절실하게 필요한 상황이기에 다양한 지원을 기대하고 있습니다. 향후 방향이나 협업 계획은 콘퍼런스를 계기로 더욱 활발하게 진행하도록 하겠습니다. 그동안 각 사업장이 추진해왔던 발전과 장점, 진보된 기술 등을 이번 콘퍼런스에서 공유해 경쟁사와 격차를 더 벌리는 계기가 됐으면 합니다.
Q. What kind of help is needed at overseas subsidiaries from global divisions?
One of our rival companies is set to complete a new factory in 2025, which means we have to bolster our competitiveness in terms of manufacturing costs and quality control. This requires diverse support in terms of research and technological training. After this conference, we will implement our future strategies and collaboration plans more proactively.
